LYNCHBURG, VA. (MSU) – Just when they thought they had enough of each other, the latest ACHA rankings made sure of a guaranteed postseason matchup. That is, the Minot State women’s hockey team after wrapping up an eight-game regular season series with the Jamestown Jimmies, they are set to meet again in Lynchburg, VA for a quarterfinal matchup in the WMCH Conference Tournament. After a long grueling series during the 2023-24 season between both teams, the No. 4 Beavers (20-10-1) will duel with 11th-ranked Jamestown (13-16-0) once again this time in the postseason ranks. Puck drop is set for 2:30 p.m. (ET) today, which will be the second game taking place in the quarterfinal round of the bracket. The Beavers are the 3-seed, while Jamestown is the 6-seed heading into Tournament play.

Minot State is in a perfect spot to be entering postseason play, and that is a long nine-game winning streak where the team is feeling good heading into higher stakes matchups. The seeding outcome created quite the draw for the Beavers, as they face Jamestown just after sweeping them last weekend on home ice. The Beavers 3-1 win on Senior Day was the most recent result between these two squads. Jamestown is limping their way into the playoffs following a five-game losing streak to end the season, but those losses were against two top-five teams in the rankings with one of them being Minot State. Their last win came against the University of Minnesota on February 3 in a 3-2 effort.

MSU MENS BASKETBALL-POLLS
MINOT, N.D. (MSU) – For the sixth straight week the Minot State men’s basketball team found itself in the nation’s Top 25 as the Beavers head into the final weekend of the regular season No. 24 in the nation. The Beavers (19-7 overall, 14-6 NSIC) received 37 points in this week’s NABC Top 25 poll and slipped one spot from No. 23 to No. 24 after splitting a pair of NSIC games at home. Minot State now hits the road for its final two regular-season games before the NSIC Tournament, which begins Wednesday, Feb. 28, with first-round games hosted by teams finishing fifth through eighth in the NSIC standings. The Beavers wrap up the season playing at Southwest Minnesota State on Friday and at Sioux Falls on Saturday. Minot State was one of four NSIC teams in the NABC Top 25 as the Beavers join No. 4 ranked Minnesota State, Mankato, No. 12 Minnesota Duluth, and No. 13 Minnesota State Moorhead.

UND VOLLEYBALL
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (UND) – Three Fighting Hawks: Elizabeth Norris, Paige Barber and Marissa Stockman, will be attending an open tryout with USA Volleyball in Colorado Springs, Colo. this weekend. This tryout will be for consideration for multiple international competitions: Olympics, Collegiate National team, and more. More than 200 athletes from universities and colleges around the country will be in attendance this weekend. A number of coaches will be on hand, including US Women’s National Team head coach Karch Kiraly, assistant coaches Tama Miyashiro, Alfee Reft and Erin Virtue and performance analyst Rianne Verhoek. Additionally, gold medalist and team MVP from the 2020 US Olympic Women’s Team Jordan Larson will be in attendance and speak to the athletes. Representatives from all three US women’s pro volleyball leagues will also be in attendance.
