USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service has release their North Dakota Crop Production Report....

    FARGO, N.D. - USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service has release their North Dakota Crop Production Report.

    Based on July 1 conditions, North Dakota's 2019 other spring wheat crop is forecast at 301 million bushels, down 5 percent from last year. Average yield is forecast at 47 bushels per acre, down 2 bushels from 2018. Area to be harvested for grain is estimated at 6.40 million acres, down 1 percent from a year ago.

    Durum wheat production is forecast at 25.8 million bushels, down 39 percent from last year. Average yield is forecast at 38 bushels per acre, down 1.5 bushels from 2018. Area to be harvested for grain is expected to total 680,000 acres, down 37 percent from a year ago.

    Winter wheat production is forecast at 3.38 million bushels, up 12 percent from last year. Average yield is forecast at 45 bushels per acre, up 2 bushels from 2018. Area to be harvested for grain is estimated at 75,000 acres, up 7 percent from a year ago.

    Barley production is forecast at 41.7 million bushels, up 46 percent from last year. Average yield is forecast at a record high 78 bushels per acre, 4 bushels higher than 2018. Area to be harvested for grain is estimated at 535,000 acres, up 39 percent from last year.

    Oat production is forecast at 8.58 million bushels, down slightly from last year. Average yield is forecast at 78 bushels per acre, down 4 bushels from 2018. Area to be harvested for grain is estimated at 110,000 acres, up 5 percent from a year ago.

    BISMARCK, ND - Project Safe Send is underway with collection in the Minot and surrounding area happening next week.

The program accepts old, unusable or banned pesticides, including herbicides, insecticides, rodenticides and fungicides. The collected pesticides are shipped out of state for incineration. Project Safe Send is funded through product registration fees paid by pesticide manufacturers.

People with more than 1,000 pounds of pesticides should pre-register one week prior to delivery. No other pre-registration is required. A maximum of 20,000 pounds of pesticides per participant will be accepted. Pesticide rinse water and empty containers are no longer accepted.

To pre-register, obtain plastic bags or for more information, contact Jeremiah Lien at the North Dakota Department of Agriculture at 701-425-3016 or jjliennd.gov.

The collections will run from 8 a.m. to noon local time at the North Dakota Department of Transportation facilities in the following cities:
