Weekly Crop Report....

    FARGO, N.D. - For the week ending October 7th, there were 2.0 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service.

    Topsoil moisture supplies rated 7 percent very short, 22 short, 63 adequate, and 8 surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 11 percent very short, 28 short, 57 adequate, and 4 surplus.

    Field Crops Report

    Soybean condition rated 3 percent very poor, 13 poor, 30 fair, 50 good, and 4 excellent. Soybeans harvested was 34 percent, behind 40 last year and 50 for the five-year average.

    Winter wheat planted was 84 percent, ahead of 79 last year, but near 86 average. Emerged was 53 percent, equal to last year, and near 49 average.

    Corn condition rated 2 percent very poor, 10 poor, 25 fair, 48 good, and 15 excellent. Corn mature was 93 percent, well ahead of 60 last year and 72 average. Harvested was 8 percent, near 4 last year and 6 average.

    Canola harvested was 95 percent, behind 100 last year, and near 97 average.

    Sugarbeet condition rated 0 percent very poor, 0 poor, 6 fair, 15 good, and 79 excellent. Sugarbeets harvested was 45 percent, behind 56 last year and 54 average.

    Sunflower condition rated 1 percent very poor, 8 poor, 32 fair, 55 good, and 4 excellent. Sunflowers bracts turned brown was 91 percent, ahead of 79 last year and 73 average. Harvested was 9 percent, ahead of 4 last year, and near 5 average.

    Flaxseed harvested was 97 percent, near 96 last year, and ahead of 88 average.

    Potatoes harvested was 77 percent, near 76 last year, and ahead of 68 average.

    Dry edible beans harvested was 93 percent, ahead of 84 last year and 78 average.

    Pasture and Range Report

    Pasture and range conditions rated 7 percent very poor, 16 poor, 42 fair, 34 good, and 1 excellent.

    Stock water supplies rated 6 percent very short, 26 short, 64 adequate, and 4 surplus.
