TODAY'S THOUGHT

Grace is troublesome for control freaks - sinners curved in on themselves, bent on securing their own existence and status.

MINOT, ND (NAHL) - The Minot Minotauros season will start the way in began playing the Shreveport Mudbugs. This time it's for the NAHL Robertson Cup Championship.

The Tauros scored a 5-4 overtime win yesterday in game three of the semifinal series against Fairbanks. Minot lost the first game on Friday, but came back to score victories on Saturday and Sunday in the best-of-three series.

Tonight's winner-take-all contest begins at 7 pm at Fogerty Arena in Blaine, MN.

By the way, the Mudbugs won that season opener back in September 3-1.

MINNEAPOLIS - Seattle heads to Minnesota to make up a postponed game from April 8, and they'll do it without Robinson Cano. The star second baseman left Sunday's game with a fracture in his right hand after being hit by a pitch. He's scheduled to see a specialist Tuesday, when he'll find out if surgery will be required. Either way, Cano is likely to miss significant time because the hand is "broken bad," he said.

Jake Odorizzi starts for the Twins against Wade LeBlanc. Minnesota has won seven of their last ten, including a split of a four game set over the weekend in L.A. versus the Angels.

HOUSTON (AP) - It's a series that many basketball fans have been waiting for all season. The Golden State Warriors and the Houston Rockets meet tonight in Game 1 of the Western Conference finals.

The defending champion Warriors are looking to reach the NBA Finals for the fourth straight year. For the Rockets, a win in this series would put them in the Finals for the first time since 1995 when they won the second of their back-to-back titles.

The Rockets, who earned the top seed for the first time in franchise history by winning 65 games in the regular season, are certainly happy to be opening at home, but aren't sure if it's that much of an advantage in this series. Coach Mike D'Antoni says both teams have shown they can win on the road.

WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) - Game 2 of the NHL's Western Conference finals takes place tonight in Winnipeg, where the Jets are hoping for a repeat of their Game 1 victory over the Vegas Golden Knights.

If the expansion Golden Knights can't figure out a way to keep the puck away from Dustin Byfuglien and work around him offensively, their inaugural season may not last beyond this series. The 6-5, 260-pound defenseman had a goal and an assist in the first game.

ROME (AP) - Serena Williams' coach says she will play the French Open beginning in two weeks. The tournament will mark the 23-time Grand Slam champion's first major since returning to the tour from maternity leave.

Coach Patrick Mouratoglou tells the WTA tour's website, "Serena will play the French Open to win it."

Williams returned to the tour briefly this year, after a 14-month absence to give birth to her daughter. But she withdrew from last week's Madrid Open and this week's Italian Open.

Williams, a three-time French Open champion, has not played since a first-round loss to Naomi Osaka in March at the Miami Open.
